Frequently Asked Questions
A roll-off dumpster is a heavy-duty trash container used for big cleanup projects. This large, sturdy trash container is rectangular in shape and made of welded steel with an open top for easy, on-location loading of junk, trash and debris. Its large capacity makes it ideal for a cleanup, remodel, renovation or demolition. The industry name for these garbage containers is “roll off dumpster” because they are delivered by a truck that rolls the dumpster off the back of the truck.
A roll-off dumpster is the workhorse of any home or business construction or remodeling project. It’s the perfect way to centrally and safely collect garbage and debris. The size and depth of a roll-off dumpster makes it perfect for large cleanups, junk and trash removal, managing remodeling, demolition and construction debris, roofing and driveway replacements, yard cleanups, and renovations after a hurricane, fire or flood.
There are many uses for a roll-off dumpster.

Dumpster Size
The first choice to make when renting a dumpster is what size you need. Dumpsters are sized based on how many cubic yards of waste they hold.
A 20 yard dumpster is 8 feet wide x 22 feet long x 4 feet high. It holds 20 cubic yards of waste.
A 30 yard dumpster is 8 feet wide x 22 feet long x 6 feet high. It holds 30 cubic yards of waste.
A 40 yard dumpster is 8 feet wide x 22 feet long x 8 feet high. It holds 40 cubic yards of waste.
*A cubic yard is 3 feet wide x 3 feet long x 3 feet wide. Weight will vary for a cubic yard. For example, a cubic yard of popcorn will weigh significantly less than a cubic yard of housing shingles.
Rental rates vary, but all rates are dependent on:
Type of debris
Dumpster size for the job
Length of rental
In weighing your purchase decision for a dumpster rental, consider efficiency and effectiveness. Workers can be much more efficient on a roofing project or driveway replacement at your home or business with access to a centrally located, deep-capacity dumpster to safely contain shingles, sharp and broken debris, garbage, clutter and junk.
The right size dumpster for any project
BVR offers dumpsters in a variety of sizes, depending on your needs.
Flexible rental periods to fit your schedule
Whether you need a dumpster for one week, several weeks or even months at a time, BVR has flexible rental periods.
A focus on sustainability and the environment
BVR stands by our guarantee of environmental responsibility. We deliver every load of refuse to only certified disposal facilities and landfills. No shortcuts. No illegal dumping. Our commitment to the environment is not only the right thing to do, it’s the law. When you work with BVR, you’re not only protecting the beauty of your area, you’re protecting your company’s brand and guarding against potential fees.
Regulatory compliance
Save yourself time and avoid potential fines by ensuring you’re compliant with local regulations for dumpster placement. Don’t forget to check with your HOA or neighborhood association as well.
BVR is proud to support and follow hazardous waste precautions. Environmental safety is important to us. Batteries, asbestos, harmful chemicals, flammable liquids and more are considered environmental hazards and should not go in any dumpster. You will be asked to remove these items if you put them in a rented dumpster.
Hazardous materials are classified differently by country, state, county and city. Be familiar with, or ask one of our team members, what is acceptable in your area’s recycling centers and landfills. Additional fees may be charged for some materials. Be clear and up-front on what you will be putting into a dumpster to ensure you will not be penalized for hazardous content.
Importantly, make sure that disposal of any haul-off from your jobsite goes only to certified recycling centers and landfills. That’s how every load is handled by BVR.
After you rent a moving truck, it’s time to get serious about what goes with you to your new location. Start fresh by getting rid of unwanted junk, broken items and general trash instead of taking it with you to your new home.
Simplify Cleanup
If you have a large amount of purging to get done, utilize a sturdy, large-sized rental dumpster from BVR. Many different sizes and prices are available, and rental durations can be arranged to best meet your moving time frames. You don’t have to get it all done in one weekend.
The first choice to make when renting a dumpster is what size you need. Dumpsters are sized based on how many cubic yards of waste they hold.
A 10 yard dumpster is 8 feet wide x 12 feet long x 3 ½ feet high. It holds 10 cubic yards of waste.
Reduce Clutter and Costs
The perfect time to arrange for your dumpster is right after you search for a truck or moving company. Moving is on your mind, and you will find that moving charges depend on the amount or volume of goods you plan on hauling from your current location to your future location. You can save in moving costs by removing items from your move load and move list that you don’t want, no longer need, or are just broken.
When you get a quote from a mover, you can ask them to also quote for 2/3 of your original move load. That will give you an idea of what the price could be if you reduce clutter and junk before your move begins. Reducing the quantity and weight of items you will move can even cut down on the amount you spend on boxes, packaging peanuts and protectors, and tape.
Have a safe move! BVR is here to help you reduce clutter and remove waste with a temporary roll-off dumpster. Contact us to arrange for new curbside service after you move. We would value the opportunity to serve your home or business with a recurring garbage or recycling pickup service.
You can schedule your roll-off dumpster delivery with BVR by calling our customer service team at 979-260-0006 or requesting online through our website here. We'll work with you to choose the right size dumpster and delivery date that fits your schedule.
Size matters when it comes to garbage. BVR has many bin, dumpster and container options available to handle all your waste and recycling needs. We make it easy to have your facilities serviced so you can focus on running your business.
Front-load containers, bins and dumpsters are most often used for non-residential, business or commercial waste collection. You can arrange for one or more 2-,4-, 6- or 8-cubic-yard containers.
Front-load containers are good for office buildings, manufacturing plants and offices, distribution centers, apartments, multi-family properties and residential buildings, hotels, schools and universities, shopping centers, grocery stores, convenience stores, service stations, auto body shops, nail salons, hair and grooming salons, restaurants, lunch counters, delis, healthcare offices, urgent care locations, hospitals, health testing facilities and strip malls.
There are a few things to consider when determining whether you need a front-load dumpster or not. The type and amount of waste you have, the frequency of your pickups, and the size of your building are all critical factors. If you have a lot of heavy materials like concrete or bricks, you'll need a roll-off dumpster instead of a front-load dumpster. The roll-off dumpster can handle the weight better than the front loaders. If you have a lot of space for a dumpster but not much waste, a front loader is the better option since they are less expensive to rent. If you have limited space, a front load is the best option for you since they're smaller compared to a roll-off dumpster. The frequency of your pickups also influences deciding which type of dumpster to get. If you need weekly service, a front loader is best since they're designed for that level of use. If you only need it picked up once a month or so, then either type would work, but a roll-off dumpster might be more expensive in the long run.
Finally, consider the size of your building when deciding if a front-load dumpster is best for you. You'll need a front loader if you have a large office complex or factory since they can hold more waste. If you have a small retail store or restaurant, the front-load dumpster might be easier to maneuver around tight spaces.
BVR will consult with you to identify a location(s) that is easily accessible for our trucks and drivers and safe for your customers and employees. A front-end load dumpster can typically be placed in a driveway or on the street. However, some restrictions may apply. For example, some municipalities have regulations about where a dumpster can be placed. In addition, the size of the dumpster may also dictate where it can be placed. For instance, a smaller dumpster may be able to fit in a driveway, while a larger dumpster may need to be placed on a street or parking lot. Make sure the place selected is away from any doors into the building.
Roll-off dumpsters — so named because they have wheels and are unloaded from the back of a roll-off truck — are ideal for manufacturers, large retailers, commercial or residential renovations, construction and demolition firms, land, yard or tree clearing trimming and removal, festivals and large events, and agricultural harvests. The most-popular sizes are 20-, 30-, and 40-cubic-yards of capacity.
Roll-off dumpsters and bins can be placed in safe locations. BVR trucks will need to be able to access the dumpster in order to remove it. Once emptied, it can be replaced in its original or other designated location. Some types of waste, especially hazardous, are not allowed in roll-off dumpsters and/or require an additional fee.
A compactor is an electrically powered machine that reduces the size of waste material by pressing on it with significant force (compaction), thereby greatly reducing space needed for storage. BVR compactors are fully enclosed and range in size from 2 cubic yards to 40 cubic yards. The mechanical blade within the container compacts the loaded-in waste materials. Compactors are ideal for businesses that generate large amounts of waste or use significant quantities of recyclable materials.
Up-front costs for compactors are typically larger than that of roll-off dumpsters. However, over time, compactors yield savings by reducing trash pickup counts or recycling sell-offs. Compactors are often used by hospitals, distribution centers, manufacturing companies, industrial plants and recycling centers. Because of the internal blade, employee training is strongly recommended prior to installing a compactor.
There are several restrictions on what can be placed inside a front-load dumpster. Most importantly, no hazardous materials are allowed! This includes anything flammable, corrosive, or toxic. Additionally, no electronics or appliances are to be placed in the dumpster. This is because these items often contain harmful chemicals and metals that can leak into the ground and contaminate soil and water resources. Finally, no construction debris is permitted in front-load dumpsters. This includes things like bricks, lumber, drywall, and concrete. For jobs such as that, we recommend a roll-off dumpster. Before rental, please inquire on a complete list of restricted items.
